Loyalty vouchers for past customers

Custom Made Interiors is 20 years old next year and the birthday celebrations are being planned now. They will be held in the Saltash showroom and will include nibbles, bubbles, a variety of talks and activities as well as lots of laughter. We would like everyone who has been part of the company’s success over the years to be there and all past customers are automatically invited.  The final details will be posted nearer the time.

I know that many of you past customers continue to regularly recommend us to friends and family.  As part of the birthday celebrations, we have decided that in the future you will be rewarded for your loyalty with a lifetime loyalty voucher.  These vouchers offer £100.00 in cash for each new successful recommendation over a value of £2000.00 and also offer a full 10% reduction on any new work you have, whatever the value, but not combined with other offers.  Due to the vast number of people entitled to a voucher, it may be some time before you receive yours.  So, if you are a past customer and do know someone who needs work done, or if you need some yourself, please don’t miss out on the offer -just e-mail me at enquiries@custommadeinteriors.com and I will immediately put a voucher in the post for you.

Kind regards

Bedrooms – today’s new living spaces

- editorial for the November edition of Cornwall Life

Busy lives demand better bedrooms. With leisure time so precious, we are asking for much more than a space to sleep. The bedroom is now all about taking a break from stressful living and retreating into a purpose-made environment for relaxation. So, what the main trends and fashions?

Design and technology are being seamlessly integrated, with such innovations as rise and fall television / computer screens, exceptional music systems and lighting adjustable to create exactly the right mood.

For comfort, beds are becoming larger and there are more soft furnishings, such as fitted, upholstered headboards and soft seating areas. A feeling of opulence is in demand, so luxurious fabrics are increasingly required and bedding is now likely to comprise of wonderful soft silks, linens and top quality cottons.  Fitted carpets are becoming less popular, with many of us opting for the flexibility of hard flooring with scatter rugs and large cushions for interest. Ceilings are smooth and walls too are predominantly smooth with the odd strong statement wall for the bold. Large prints are in vogue, especially for bedding, curtains and soft furnishings. Lighting is bolder than in the past with the main light larger and more elaborate but accompanied by lamps that are quieter and more subtle, all centrally controlled and fully adjustable depending on mood. Additional interest is achieved by clever use of mirrors and small extras that make a lot of difference to the overall effect, such as designer radiators.

Most of us still demand built-in wardrobes and cupboards and these are leaning towards large panel doors with simple, elegant finishes encompassed in modern, easy clean /easy wipe finishes, such as high gloss and pale woods with dark wood contrasts; though demand for traditional woods and painted finishes remains high. The best advice is to choose a company with a wide range to ensure the best choice for your room and taste. The current fashion is for completely custom made furniture, as space is usually at a premium and plenty of storage space always a priority. When choosing a bespoke company, always ensure the carcases are genuinely hand-made so that all sizes are available.  Floor to ceiling cupboards and wardrobes with a variety of internal fittings, such as drop-down rails for easy access, are the ideal for maximum storage. Bear in mind that these should always be fully backed to prevent white marks and damp ruining clothes. With bedrooms sometimes doubling up as a study, there is also high demand for odd-shaped computer desks and small-sized drawers and shelving. This is also the case in the spare room, which again, often doubles as a study. Here, there is an increase in the popularity of pull-down beds and portable desks.

Child’s bedrooms have also undergone drastic change from the teddy-bear wallpaper and cuddly toys of the past. As we all know, children are becoming ever-more sophisticated and their bedrooms, while designed for ease-of-use, also often include built-in study and gaming areas, televisions, broadband and the latest music technology: all custom-made around the child’s passions and interests.

At the higher end of the market, small rooms are being incorporated into larger ones, creating luxury en-suites with power-showers, Jacuzzi’s, wet rooms and even saunas. Alternatively these rooms are becoming dressing rooms, linked by design to the main bedroom with plenty of built-in wardrobes and drawer space.

In our busy and stressful lives we are all looking for ways to make life easier and more enjoyable. Using professionals who understand how to mix design, technology and fashion to wonderful effect, the bedroom becomes the perfect place to escape and experience a refreshing, deeper relaxation.
